About Us
The love child of Cinephile Paradiso and The Silent Cinema, Silent Film Festival is Ireland's first silent film festival dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and reimagining the art of silent cinema, with film screenings, workshops, and live music. Connecting past and present, it offers a platform to rediscover early cinema’s legacy while promoting local artistic talent.
Musicians

Mila Maia
Mila Maia is a Brazilian flautist, pianist, composer, and educator based in Ireland since 2018. Her work is shaped by diverse genres, evident in her releases like the EPs Across The Green Ocean and História do Tango, and her single Way To Fiastra.
Mila works as a music tutor, serves as the pianist-in-residence at Silent Cinema Galway, and actively collaborates with other musicians. She was awarded the Creative Practitioner Bursary by Galway City Council in both 2023 and 2024 to support her original music, and she recently completed an MA in Composition at the University of Limerick. Before moving to Ireland, she was a key figure in the traditional Irish music scene in Brazil, co-founding the band Oran and the digital magazine O Pint Diário. She now performs across Ireland and Europe with projects spanning Brazilian Choro, Irish Traditional music, Salsa, and improvised music.

Agustina Taborda

Michael Chang

While the grunge scene was booming, Michael began performing Irish ballads in pubs along the West Coast. This led to a passion for traditional Irish music, prompting him to move to Galway, Ireland, in 1999 to immerse himself in the local session scene. He now lives in Galway, performing regularly at traditional pubs like Taaffes and the Crane Bar, and has been featured on over 50 Irish albums.
